About The Position

A professional position to provide statistical support for the Croc Docs Wildlife Research Team’s multidisciplinary research and extension program on the conservation of imperiled wildlife and habitats, and the ecology and management of invasive wildlife and fish in South Florida and the Caribbean. The incumbent will be responsible for large datasets that involve the data collection, curation and management, and analytical results to present to agencies and scientific community to address research project deliverables. The incumbent will also provide quantitative support for several ongoing research projects involving wildlife population biology, invasive species ecology and control, spatial ecology and movement patterns, monitoring of natural areas, and landscape ecology. This position is time-limited based on the availability of funding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field and three years of experience or Master’s degree in biology or a related field with one year of relevant experience.
  • Driver's license
  • experience with airboat and motorboat operation
  • Certification in CPR and wilderness first aid. Certifications must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced with relational databases and fitting statistical models, including occupancy, abundance, mark-recapture, and population growth to large long-term datasets.
  • Experience with spatial analyses, species distribution modelling, and Artificial Intelligence/machine learning preferred.
  • Ability to visualize and interpret results and experience writing manuscripts and delivering presentations for the scientific community.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
