About The Position

-Designs and performs experiments (including, but not limited to: mammalian and bacterial cell culture, various molecular biology techniques, and immunoassays: flow cytometry, ELISA, microscopy). -Responsible for animal sample collection, including saliva, tear, blood, exocrine glands, spleen, and lymph nodes. -Performs animal husbandry of mice by breeding and maintains the colony of various mouse strains for a number of research projects and contracts with other institutions. -Communication and generation of data sets into figures. Responsible for writing figure legends, methods, and results sections of manuscripts and grants. Additionally, oral and/or poster presentations will be performed regularly both within and outside the lab. -Confirming the lab stays in compliance with IACUC and EH&S protocols, which will include writing IACUC, EH&S (including IBC), and IRB protocols, and organizing inspections with these committees. -Training and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in the lab.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or a closely related life science field.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with animal handling is required.
  • Extensive experience in writing IACUC and IRB protocols.
  • Familiar with immunoassays and molecular biology techniques (flow cytometry, cell culture, molecular biology methods).
  • Familiar with basic analytical software (GraphPad Prism, FlowJo)
  • Doctoral degree in biology or a closely related field; or a master’s degree in biology or a closely related field and one year of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in biology or a closely related field and three years of relevant experience.
