As a Charleston Shellfish Sampler (Biological Science Assistant) with the Marine Resources Program (MRP) in Charleston, Oregon, you will provide assistance with sampling, monitoring, surveys, and research for multiple commercial and recreational shellfish fisheries. Duties include collecting, tabulating, and analyzing data on shellfish fisheries, shellfish resources, and estuary habitat. The position will have frequent contact with shellfish commercial and recreational fishery participants as well as the public while collecting data. This position requires a Boater Education Certificate obtained through the Oregon State Marine Board within sixty days of appointment. For a full review of the CHARLESTON SHELLFISH SAMPLER position details, duties and working conditions, click here. - OR - As a Commercial Crab Sampler (Biological Science Assistant) with the Marine Resources Program (MRP) in Charleston, Oregon, you will collect and enter data from the commercial Dungeness crab fishery including from vessel offloads (dockside sampling), onboard fishing vessels (at-sea sampling), derelict gear recovery trips, logbooks, and research, management, and monitoring projects.
