About The Position

Vomela in Elk Grove, IL is seeking an experienced Bindery Operator to join their team. In this role, the operator will operate and maintain cutting and/or folding equipment, ensure accurate packaging, and deliver completed work to the designated areas. They will regularly collaborate with Sales, Customer Service Representatives, and fellow Bindery team members. Vomela is one of the nation’s largest and most diverse print conglomerates with 20+ locations and more than 1,300 employees, utilizing cutting-edge print technology to produce and distribute commercial print collateral, retail signage, transportation graphics, and large-format displays. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • General knowledge of folding machinery
  • Ability to understand basic mechanical principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good natural or corrected vision

Responsibilities

  • Review job jackets for specifications and instructions
  • Set up folders and cutters for each job
  • Compare work against proofs/dummies for accuracy
  • Complete bindery checklists and clarify questions with supervisors
  • Operate folder machines; monitor quality and alignment throughout production
  • Maintain speed and accuracy while producing high-quality output
  • Package finished jobs neatly for shipping; prepare and separate customer samples
  • Perform post-run duties, including sample preparation and shortage reporting
  • Move completed jobs to the designated delivery areas
  • Review job specifications and program cutter using onboard computer
  • Perform cutting tasks and forward completed materials to the next department
  • Inspect output to ensure correct size, stock, and paper type
  • Clean and maintain all equipment and work areas
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, including knife changes, lubrication, and accuracy checks
  • Keep maintenance logs updated and ensure all machinery operates safely and correctly
