Job Summary: The BIM Designer I supports the creation, coordination, and maintenance of building information models and design documentation for manufacturing production lines and facility infrastructure projects. This role assists engineers and senior designers by developing and updating 2D drawings and 3D BIM models to support equipment layout, facility modifications, and construction coordination. The position maintains accurate as-built documentation, performs field verification, and contributes to design review activities to ensure alignment between design intent and existing conditions. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the ability to manage multiple design assignments in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Foundational knowledge of BIM and CAD platforms such as Revit or AutoCAD
  • Ability to interpret 2D drawings and translate them into 3D BIM models
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and projects
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering and design team
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Drafting, BIM Technology, Engineering Technology, Architecture Technology, or a related technical field
  • Autodesk Certified User (ACU) in Revit or AutoCAD, or similar BIM certification
  • Experience using BIM tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, or Navisworks for design or model coordination
  • Exposure to manufacturing, facilities, or industrial infrastructure environments
  • Internship, co-op, or entry-level experience supporting engineering, construction, or facility projects

Responsibilities

  • Create and update 2D drawings and 3D BIM models to support manufacturing production line layouts, facility upgrades, and infrastructure projects
  • Develop and modify design documentation using BIM and CAD platforms including Revit and AutoCAD
  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings and documentation for facility structures, systems, and equipment
  • Develop and maintain Revit families and BIM content to support design coordination and construction documentation
  • Input and manage project data within BIM models to support engineering, construction, and facility records
  • Perform site observations and field verification to confirm equipment conditions, physical layouts, and facility infrastructure
  • Utilize reference models and linked files in BIM/CAD platforms and prepare drawing sheets for documentation and printing in accordance with drafting standards
  • Support the improvement of BIM workflows, drafting practices, and digital design standards within the department
  • Assist with maintaining and organizing drawing databases, BIM models, and project documentation
  • Identify discrepancies between field conditions and design documentation and communicate updates for correction
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of BIM and CAD standards that improve design efficiency and model accuracy
  • Support engineers and senior designers with design revisions, drawing updates, and model development
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing activities and training to develop proficiency in BIM modeling and design coordination practices
  • Build foundational expertise in manufacturing facility design, equipment layout, and BIM-based documentation
  • Collaborate with engineering, facilities, construction, and project management teams to support design coordination and project execution
  • Participate in design review sessions and departmental meetings to gather feedback and provide project updates
  • Communicate project progress, design issues, or coordination conflicts to the BIM & CAD Manager
  • Assist with documenting field observations and design coordination information to support project teams
  • Ensure BIM models and drawings comply with company drafting standards, engineering requirements, and project documentation procedures
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation to support facility operations and construction coordination
  • Follow facility safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in operational manufacturing areas
  • Support safe work practices during field verification activities and site observations
