Finance - Billing Team Lead

About The Position
The Billing Team Lead partners closely with the Billing Manager to maintain compliance, streamline processes, and ensure the financial health of the organization. This position will assist the Sales team in identifying upselling opportunities and maintaining customer relationships. This position is expected to travel 10% of the time.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or tracking to complete a bachelor’s degree is preferred
- 2+ years leading fast paced and high-volume teams required
- Previous experience developing and/or leading employee training programs required
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills required
- Proven experience managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment required
- Proven experience using order entry systems, billing platforms, vendor portals and ERP systems required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.); including VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP functions, PivotTables, and use of IF statements and formulas required
- Demonstrated understanding of basic statistics, interpreting output results, and developing KPI’s using statistical data required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required
Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of billing specialists serving multiple branches
- Manage team workflow, ensuring equitable distribution of tasks and timely billing
- Approve and manage payroll for billing staff
- Monitor and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) using statistical data; ensure all team members meet daily and weekly goals
- Identify process inefficiencies and develop actionable solutions
- Collaborate with the Billing Manager and billing specialists to resolve invoice issues
- Review billing documents for completeness and accuracy; obtain missing or corrected data as needed
- Conduct daily and weekly quality assurance reviews
- Generate and customize billing reports
- Process billing credits and revisions
- Assist with departmental training and onboarding of new hires
- Help document both existing and newly implemented procedures
- Collaborate with the Accounts Receivable team to resolve payment-related issues
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance evaluations for billing staff
- Participate in recruitment, interviews, and training of new team members
- Proactively communicate any issues impacting deadlines or billing performance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Billing Manger
- Perform Ad-Hoc requests assigned by Director of Finance and Helix Finance Leadership
- Assist the sales team in identifying upselling opportunities and maintaining client relationships
- Ability to travel up to 10%
