This is a full-time, hybrid position with responsibilities including commercial insurance, medical assistance, and Medicare Healthcare billing. The ideal candidate must be organized, detail-oriented, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and possess strong communication skills for verifying coverage, authorizations, and payments/denials with insurance companies and/or patients.

Requirements

  • 1 year coding/billing experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with an EMR system.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or medical billing certificate(s).

Responsibilities

  • Ensures client billing data is current and accurately entered billing system.
  • Processes and submits claims to all relevant payers on a weekly basis.
  • Performs appropriate follow-up procedures on all claims older than 60 days to ensure payment.
  • Interacts appropriately, demonstrating good customer service skills with all clients, client family members, external parties, clinicians, and fellow employees.
  • Meets goals set for overall days in aging, cash collections, unbilled percentage, workload, and percent of claims older than 90 and 270 days.
  • Follows up on denied and pending claims.
  • Adheres to HIPAA and confidentiality of our consumers and staff.
  • Attends agency staff meetings, in-services, and other relevant agency meetings.
