About The Position

Johnson County Community College (JCCC) inspires learning to transform lives and strengthen communities. This positions coordinates and manages the collections and billing functions to ensure timely recovery of receivables. This role manages a team of specialists and is responsible for on-boarding, off-boarding, and performance appraisals.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree.
  • Requires 3+ years of related experience in billing and collections.
  • Senior-level support role.
  • Completes assignments with little supervision.
  • May assist less-experienced team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting.
  • Experience in Higher Education.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner.

Responsibilities

  • Track internal and external unpaid accounts and solicit payment through various communication methods, placement of holds, payment plan offerings, and collaboration with JCCC staff.
  • Report unpaid accounts to external collection agencies and remove paid accounts in a timely manner.
  • Assess collection fees and review data on a continuing basis to ensure the accuracy of account information that is reported.
  • Exercise discretion in resolving complaints, grievances, discipline, and concerns as they arise.
  • Ensure compliance with collections laws, regularly attend trainings, and review current policies.
  • Process Drop for Non-Payment for unpaid student accounts at beginning of academic terms.
  • Bill external organizations for tuition and fees and establish formal billing arrangements with new sponsors, resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Supervise the Billing and Accounts Receivable team, coordinating daily workflows and ensuring coverage of duties and adherence to departmental policies and standards.
  • Coach, support, and mentor team members within the department.
  • Drive a culture of customer service excellence amongst team members.
  • Assist departmental leaders in the development of goals and objectives.
  • Identify best practices and aim to improve departmental processes and efficiencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
