About The Position

The Billing and Receivables Management Specialist I (Receivables Focused) plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate billing for residential, commercial, and industrial customer accounts. This position focuses on improving collections on outstanding receivables, reducing net write-offs, and correcting billing exceptions. The specialist will handle various tasks related to customer accounts, including adjustments, refunds, and payment transfers, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in operation of a personal computer.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to transition from task to task with little oversight.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of the IURC Administrative code for gas, water, and wastewater.
  • Knowledge of CEG's Terms and Conditions for Citizens Gas, Citizens Water, Citizens Wastewater, Westfield Gas, Westfield Water, Westfield Wastewater, Steam and Chilled Water.
  • Knowledge of CEG's Customer Information System.

Responsibilities

  • Research and complete tasks created by the Customer Information System or a Contact Center employee to correct conditions preventing a customer account from billing.
  • Research and complete tasks created by the Customer Information System or by a Contact Center employee to transfer receivables, refund balances, transfer payments, correct budget amounts, apply or adjust deposits.
  • Review, analyze, and process misapplied and unposted customer payments.
  • Complete various reports in order to improve cash flow and reduce bad debt expense.
  • Conduct employee training and development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
