Billing and Collections Representative
About The Position
Responsible for collecting active A/R from insurance payers including but not limited to commercial, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Aetna, Uniform Medical, United Healthcare, HMOs, PPOs, and other payers. Contact insurance payers by either phone or online inquiry regarding unpaid hospital claims. Review remaining balances on account after insurances have paid to determine appropriate next action. Review denials by insurances for entire claims and for line items to determine if additional follow up is needed or assistance from other departments and forwarded to them as needed, including Care Coordination, Revenue Coordination, Registration, etc. Providence Swedish caregivers are not simply valued – they’re invaluable. Requirements
- Medical terminology and medical coding training in an accredited school --or-- equivalent education/experience
- Equivalent on-the-job training in a follow-up role required
- 2 years of experience in insurance billing/insurance follow-up or insurance claims processing and/or customer service, including private insurance
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Management or health care administration
- A strong technical background including experience with automated systems
