About The Position

The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) provides nutrition education and counseling to our clients, their families, and caregivers to address individual needs based on unique diagnoses. The RDN also provides outreach to hard-to-reach and under-served communities through nutrition workshops, and education materials, and works with our Culinary and Program Teams to ensure quality services. Position Objectives and Expectations Assess nutritional status and develop comprehensive nutrition care plan for clients with a range of severe illnesses including HIV, cancer, and diabetes. Plan and track dietary modifications to relieve specific nutrition-related symptoms associated with illnesses, prescription drugs, and food intake requirements and restrictions. Provide outreach to hard-to-reach and under-served communities through nutrition and cooking workshops, lectures, and education materials. Work with our Executive Chef and their team to ensure gold-standard food safety and sanitation performance, in accordance with New York City Department of Health guidelines and agency standards. Assist with research to build the Food as Medicine movement, and write and contribute to God’s Love publications. Help guide interns in learning how to support clients living with severe illness. About You You are highly self-motivated and empathetic, with a strong desire to provide support to clients living with a serious illness. You are looking for a collaborative, team-oriented environment, and you are energized by providing nutrition education to clients with varied medical conditions.

Requirements

  • BS (MS preferred) in Nutrition Science with an emphasis on community nutrition, public health and/or nutrition education; and a minimum of two years related experience in the field of nutrition or dietetics.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) - maintenance of current registration required.
  • Language Skills – Bilingual English/Spanish required
