About The Position

The primary job goals of the Summer Migrant Preschool Parapro is to effectively become a member of the teaching team and to participate in planning and executing all related activities, including conducting and participating in children’s activities. In addition, the preschool parapro will support the infrastructure of the classroom by participating fully in record keeping, maintenance of the environment, and all other required activities.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood or Child Development OR Child Development Associate (CDA) credential required
Current CPR/First Aid required
Bilingual (Spanish/English Required)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children and the program

Nice To Haves

Previous work experience in early childhood is preferred
Experience with Migratory students preferred
Experience working with persons from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds

Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the lead teacher.
Participate in planning and preparing the learning environment, lesson plans, setting up interest centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
Supervise the classroom in the teacher’s presence and/or absence.
Assist with general housekeeping and food preparation tasks.
Treat all children and their parents with the ultimate respect and dignity.
Attend all meetings and recommended training programs and professional development.
Maintain confidentiality about children and their families.
Supervise and participate in outdoor play.
Participate in recordkeeping: attendance, meals/snacks, assessments, screens, etc.
Perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the lead teacher and/or supervisors.
