About The Position

The Bilingual Medical Assistant position at Texas Health Allen involves providing general patient care, including greeting and preparing patients, taking and recording vital signs, and potentially drawing blood samples. Responsibilities also include documenting patient care plans and test results in the medical record, communicating with patients about their care, and performing front office duties. This is a full-time role with specific working hours, including some weekend events, and requires a current Medical Assistant certification, at least one year of experience, and Spanish speaking ability.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current Medical Assistant (MA) certification
  • 1-year Medical Assistant experience
  • Spanish Speaking Required
  • Ability to perform blood draws.
  • Good computer skills using a medical management application software EPIC.
  • Effectively communicate with staff and patients.
  • Thorough knowledge of the meaning and use of medical terminology and abbreviations.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.
  • Maintain a positive, caring attitude towards patients.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  • Greets and prepares patients for the health care provider.
  • Obtains and records vital signs including, but not limited to blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, current medications, point of care lab testing, medical and surgical history, chief complaint and other measures as directed by established clinical protocols.
  • May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for point of care laboratory analysis as well as perform additional routine tests.
  • Documents patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.
  • Communicate with patients regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by the provider.
  • Work in the front office as well as performing other duties as assigned by practice manager, more senior staff, or as requested by healthcare provider(s).
