Position Overview The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to physicians and healthcare providers to ensure efficient and high-quality patient care. This role involves direct patient interaction, assisting with procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting overall office workflow. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced medical environment. Key Responsibilities: Patient Care & Clinical Duties Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for provider evaluation. Obtain and accurately document vital signs, height, weight, and chief complaints. Review and update patient medical history, medication lists, and allergies. Assist providers during examinations and in-office procedures. Administer injections, immunizations, and medications as directed by the provider (per scope of practice). Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing as needed. Prepare and sterilize instruments and maintain exam room cleanliness. Provide patient education and explain treatment plans as instructed by the provider. Ensure proper documentation of all clinical interactions in the EMR/EHR system. Administrative Support Prepare and review patient charts prior to appointments. Process prescription refills per provider protocol. Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and follow-up appointments. Respond to patient phone calls, messages, and portal inquiries. Assist with prior authorizations and medical record documentation. Maintain accurate and timely charting in compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Operational Responsibilities Maintain inventory of medical supplies and notify management when stock is low. Ensure compliance with infection control and safety standards. Support front office staff as needed to maintain smooth patient flow. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred. Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred. BLS/CPR certification preferred. Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in a physician office or outpatient setting preferred. Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of medical terminology. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
