About The Position

Assesses the nursing needs of patients and their families. Develops, coordinates and implements nursing care plans with patients, families and health care providers. Maintains patient records and prepares reports. Supervises and/or performs medication administration and monitoring. Participates in quality assurance activities. Supervises and instructs paraprofessional nursing personnel in the care of patients and the maintenance of their areas. Plans, implements and evaluates nursing services in a specialized area. Plans programs, makes policies and develops standards and procedures in relation to nursing in a specialized area. Consults with members of the health care team. Performs outreach activities to provide services. Monitors unit staffing levels to minimize costs and resource usage.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and one year related nursing experience.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Some positions require a valid driver's license.
  • Requires certification in Basic Life Support prior to the completion of general orientation.
  • Some positions require certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
  • Ability to perform job functions in an upright position.

  • Ability to lift and carry patients weighing up to 350 lbs., assisted.
  • Ability to push/pull objects, up to 350 lbs., unassisted.
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance.
  • Ability to match or discriminate between colors.
  • Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
  • Good peripheral vision capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
  • Ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet.
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
  • Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.
