About The Position

Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, leads bilingual (English–Spanish) community engagement initiatives that result in business generation, with a primary focus on outreach to the local Hispanic community. Collaborates and engages with Hispanic‑serving community partners, churches, nonprofits, small businesses, and internal employees to accurately assess community needs that drive business growth and Hispanic membership expansion. Provides support to school districts and business partners by conducting on‑site and/or virtual open enrollment sessions and participating in community festivals and benefits fairs, with the added responsibility of serving as a bilingual representative for Spanish-speaking members and potential members. Assists the community in understanding and using credit union products and services, ensuring materials and presentations are culturally relevant and accessible in Spanish. Adapts to changing needs while maintaining positive relationships with community and business partners, including identifying new business opportunities within the Hispanic community. Performs other community engagement duties as assigned by the Community Engagement Officer. Performs duties and responsibilities in accordance with The Apple Way principles of Team Up, Serve with Purpose, Challenge Yourself, and Own It. Remains cognizant of and adheres to credit union policies and procedures and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act. Performs other duties as assigned by the Community Engagement Officer

Requirements

  • Minimum three to five years financial services industry experience and/or sales experience required.
  • Minimum three years event planning experience or equivalent required.
  • Professional fluency in Spanish and English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Ability to translate or support translation of materials for outreach, presentations, and community partners.
  • A high school education or GED.
  • Ability to interact effectively in group and individual situations (virtually or in-person) at educational or credit union functions/events
  • The ability to lift 25 lbs. and utilize standard office equipment including, but not limited to, PC, fax, copier, telephone, etc
  • Ability to function in a financial institution environment.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours required

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated cultural competency and experience working with Hispanic/Latino communities preferred.
  • AA or BA/BS preferred

Responsibilities

  • Represents the credit union’s brand in the community, with a strong emphasis on outreach to Hispanic audiences. Enthusiastically supports the credit union’s culture, core values, and mission while serving as a bilingual representative (English–Spanish) at events
  • Delivers bilingual and English presentations on money management and financial services topics to a variety of audiences, including employee groups, associations, nonprofits, schools, and Hispanic community organizations (churches, resource centers, cultural groups)
  • Collaborates with other credit union departments to deliver presentations requiring licensed professionals (e.g., Mortgages, Financial Services). Works with branch leaders—especially those in high‑Hispanic‑population service areas—when presentations present new membership opportunities.
  • Organizes, attends, and coordinates staffing for school division open enrollment and benefits fairs, as well as festivals and Hispanic community events that present new membership opportunities
  • Seeks new opportunities for community events and business development through relationship building, with a priority focus on Hispanic-serving nonprofits, churches, schools, and small businesses. Opportunities may include presentations, fairs, cultural festivals, or other creative outreach efforts to increase credit union visibility among Spanish-speaking residents
  • Provides product and service recommendations to potential and current members based on a thorough needs assessment, delivered in both English and Spanish as needed. Accurately completes all required forms and data input for new account openings and initiation of credit union services in compliance with Apple policies and procedures
  • Remains well-informed of new products and services. Keeps current on rules, regulations, and internal procedures that may impact membership enrollment, including those relevant to non–U.S.-born populations
  • Measures all new membership growth and activity from community events—including Hispanic-focused outreach—to inform future decisions regarding event participation and outreach strategies
  • Supports other Community Engagement efforts including volunteer events, shred events, and Apple-generated drives (school supply, food, etc.)
  • Supports and nurtures branches in community engagement activities, including management of the community events calendar, with special support for branches that serve large Spanish-speaking populations
  • Supports Community Engagement Officer in their absence by responding to community engagement inquiries
  • Encourages branch managers and other staff participating in community events through positive coaching skills learned in AWIS and through leading by example.
