Your Role: Driving Project Success As a Bid Estimator, you’ll play a pivotal role in preparing accurate cost estimates for HVAC and facility management projects, collaborating with internal teams and external clients. Your expertise will support our procurement processes and ensure projects meet safety, health, and environmental standards.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; associate degree or additional education is a plus
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of estimating or transferable experience; previous HVAC industry and national account experience preferred
  • Skills:
  • Must have experience as an HVAC Estimator or similar role, with a strong understanding of HVAC systems and installations
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and installations
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Solid math and analytical skills for accurate cost estimation
  • Superior organizational, planning, time management, and documentation skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with industry software
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Creative, self-motivated mindset with critical thinking and decision-making abilities

Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate cost estimates based on detailed business requirements and specifications
  • Evaluate potential cost variations and prepare preliminary budgets, even before engineering drawings are available
  • Obtain material pricing and organize information to create and submit customer proposals
  • Review subcontractor and vendor estimates and facilitate procurement discussions
  • Update customers on job status via third-party platforms and coordinate with dispatch for installation scheduling
  • Ensure all vendors and products meet safety, health, and environmental standards
  • Provide timely cost estimates to support project tracking and budget adherence
  • Maintain current and historical procurement databases and generate reports
  • Develop requests for proposals and evaluate project risks
  • Support lead generation, customer service, and project initiation coordination
  • Contribute to special projects or provide expertise based on business needs
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams
  • Promote awareness of safe work practices and uphold BGIS values in all communications
  • Coordinate with dispatch, subcontractors, and business leaders to ensure seamless project execution
