About The Position

The Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center, located in La Grange, Kentucky, is the only forensic hospital in the state, serving all 120 counties and performing competency evaluations for persons in Kentucky. The team works a 37.50-hour week and offers health insurance, life insurance, paid leave, and retirement benefits. The center is currently seeking a BH/DID Facility Services Supervisor who possesses the skill, knowledge, and desire to be part of their team and lead the medical records department.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of professional experience in public or business administration, hospital administration, or a related field.
  • A master's degree in public or business administration, health, or a related field will substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Additional experience in public or business administration, hospital administration, or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, plans and coordinates the administration of the medical records at Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center (KCPC).
  • Oversees and manages privacy and confidentiality concerns as Facility HIPAA Privacy Officer.
  • Directs the KCPC medical records committee and facility department leadership with data audits, utilizing clinical and statistical analysis.
  • Plans, organizes, supervises and reviews the work of medical records employees to ensure economical and efficient operations.
  • Includes management responsibilities of time and attendance, performance evaluations, disciplinary action recommendations, counseling, provisions and recommendations for training.
  • Analyzes and documents the clinical and statistical needs of medical records based on regulatory requirements.
  • Applies International Classification of Diseases (ICD10) to code patient admission and discharge diagnoses and processes release of patient information requests.
  • Develops and implements facility wide trainings as needed related to specific medical records initiatives and HIPAA compliance.
  • Provides consultation to all hospital staff regarding composition of medical records.
  • Interprets and analyzes state, federal laws and regulations to assure KCPC medical record and HIPAA compliance.
  • Develops and recommends policies and procedures pertinent to medical records and HIPAA.
  • Responsible for annual medical chart archival procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
