About The Position

The Beverage Manager is responsible for overseeing the beverage operations, including the creation and execution of innovative beverage programs, management of bar staff, and ensuring that all beverages meet the hotel’s high-quality standards. This leadership role involves developing and maintaining the beverage menu, managing inventory, and driving profitability. The Beverage Manager works closely with the executive team to ensure operational efficiency, superior guest experience, and adherence to financial goals. This position requires a strong background in beverage management, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for delivering an elevated guest experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in beverage or bar management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing profitable beverage programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of beverage inventory management, cost control, and menu development.
  • Experience in managing a large team, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Strong leadership and staff management abilities with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Expert knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, mixology, wine, and beer pairings.
  • Strong financial acumen with expertise in budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for working with guests, staff, and management.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal alcohol service regulations and health & safety standards.
  • Proficiency in POS systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during shifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (e.g., boxes of supplies, inventory, or equipment).
  • Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching to perform tasks or manage inventory.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily beverage operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service across all outlets.
  • Develop, implement, and manage beverage programs that align with the hotel’s brand, enhancing the guest experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal alcohol regulations, as well as safety, sanitation, and health codes.
  • Monitor the inventory of all beverage products and manage reordering processes to ensure stock levels meet demand while minimizing waste.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for beverage service, storage, and handling.
  • Lead, mentor, and train beverage staff, bartenders, and servers to deliver exceptional service and maintain consistency in beverage offerings.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage, especially during high-demand times.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating work environment that encourages teamwork and employee development.
  • Ensure effective communication between beverage staff and other departments.
  • Develop and manage the beverage department budget, ensuring financial targets are met and costs are controlled.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as beverage sales, cost of goods sold (COGS), labor costs, and guest satisfaction metrics.
  • Implement pricing strategies, promotions, and menu engineering to drive profitability and maximize revenue.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews, identifying areas for cost reduction and performance improvement.
  • Ensure an exceptional guest experience by maintaining high standards of beverage quality, service, and presentation.
  • Handle guest complaints or feedback related to beverage service, resolving issues promptly to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance guest retention and encourage repeat visits through engaging beverage experiences.
  • Regularly collect and analyze guest feedback to continuously improve the beverage program.
  • Curate and update the beverage menu, working closely with the culinary team to ensure the offerings complement the hotel’s food menu and meet guest preferences.
  • Introduce new cocktails, seasonal specials, and unique beverage options to keep the menu fresh and exciting.
  • Monitor beverage quality, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and overall guest satisfaction.
  • Stay current on beverage trends and incorporate innovative ideas into the beverage program.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement beverage-focused promotions, events, and marketing campaigns.
  • Promote signature drinks, seasonal offerings, and beverage-related events to increase sales and guest engagement.
  • Oversee the hotel’s beverage social media presence, ensuring it aligns with brand messaging and attracts new guests.
  • Work with local vendors, suppliers, and distributors to create unique beverage experiences that set the hotel apart.
  • Ensure that all beverage operations comply with health and safety regulations, including alcohol service laws and food safety standards.
  • Conduct regular audits of beverage storage areas to ensure proper handling, sanitation, and compliance.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment for all beverage service areas, ensuring proper organization and inventory control.
  • Work with event planners to develop beverage menus tailored to specific events, including banquets, weddings, and conferences.
  • Oversee beverage service for private events, ensuring smooth operations and the highest level of guest satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with the catering team to manage large-scale beverage needs for special functions.
