About The Position

The Beverage Buyer is responsible for purchasing, inventory management, and merchandising of all non-alcoholic beverages at Plum Market. This includes managing product in the beverage aisle, refrigerated drink cases, case stacks, and remote displays. The Buyer ensures accurate stock levels, proper rotation, pricing integrity, and visually appealing merchandising. This role plays a key part in achieving purchase budgets, margin goals, and shrink control while maintaining Plum Market’s standard of exceptional Customer Service. Requirements

  • At least 6 months of experience in grocery retail, buying, or beverage category management.
  • Strong product knowledge in non-alcoholic beverages and familiarity with frozen, dairy, and dry grocery preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Apps and the ability to adapt and learn new software solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break – we work on the floor and alongside our team.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and push/pull carts up to 100 lbs. unassisted.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase and maintain inventory for all non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring freshness, availability, and variety.
  • Monitor department sales performance and adjust purchasing strategies to meet goals and reduce shrink.
  • Maintain accurate pricing, signage, and shelf tags across all displays.
  • Execute planograms, product resets, and seasonal promotional displays.
  • Keep purchasing journals and vendor logs accurate and up to date.
  • Communicate product updates and new item features to Team Members.
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely deliveries and strong product support.
  • Fulfill special orders for Customers with professionalism and follow-through.
  • Adhere to all Plum Market safety standards, sanitation policies, and operational procedures.
  • Support a clean, organized, and visually compelling department that reflects our brand standards.
