About The Position

- Evaluates and compares existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys, and other sources of information. - Provide assistance in management of the Human Resources department. - Conducts and oversees the administration of existing benefit plans on behalf of Tribal Operations and the Meskwaki Settlement School. - Implement new approved benefit plans and changes by preparing announcement material, booklets, and other media for communication of the new plans to employees. - Prepares and notifies new employees of monthly enrollment benefit and 401(k) meeting dates; coordinates the setup of the annual Open Enrollment meeting. - Prepares and executes, with legal consultation, benefit plan documentation such as amended plan texts, benefit agreements, and insurance policies. Ensures prompt and accurate compliance of amendments and notifies insurance carriers of changes in benefits programs. - Assist with job postings announcements, update recruitment files, coordinate help wanted advertising, respond to questions from applicants, schedule interviews, participate in interviews as requested, initiate background checks, reference checks, coordinate pre-employment testing and drug screening and lead new employee orientations. May extend employment offers and prepare hiring statistics. - Assist departments in tracking FML usage each month, update leave tracking spreadsheet and monitor expiration of leave. Assist with FML eligibility determinations and preparing required FML paperwork and forms to ensure compliance. - Respond to questions about policies, procedures and personnel issues. Interpret policies, research and resolve issues. May conduct policy research and assist the HR Director in drafting policies and procedures. - Assists departments with compensation program needs. Work with supervisors to establish new positions and job reclassifications. - Carry out various human resources programs for employees. - Participate in developing department goals, and objectives - Keep database up to date with employee information. - Submit monthly benefit vendor payments through the workflow process and distribute payment to the vendors. - Oversee benefits administration including claims resolution, change reporting, and approving invoices for payment. - Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as required. - Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality. - Perform various project work and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Business, Human Resource Management or related field. Five (5) years of benefit administration experience or relevant work experience. OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Must have a driver's license.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in teambuilding and teamwork.
  • Must submit to and successfully complete background investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer Bachelor's Degree
  • Prefer PHR (Professional in Human Resources)/THRP (Tribal Human Resource Professional) certification, must be willing to obtain either certification within the first year of employment.
