About The Position

As a Benefits Eligibility Advocate, you will provide education, guidance, and hands-on assistance to individuals seeking Medicaid coverage. You will support clients throughout the application and renewal process, monitor application progress, and ensure documentation is submitted accurately and on time. Working closely with internal staff and the Family Support Division (FSD), you will help resolve issues, maintain compliance with Medicaid guidelines, and support efficient revenue cycle operations that allow critical services to continue reaching those who need them most. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in benefits advocacy, Medicaid enrollment, healthcare access, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of Medicaid policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and professionalism when assisting individuals from vulnerable or underserved populations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex processes clearly.
  • Customer-service mindset with effective problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with databases, electronic records systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint screening.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance required.
  • Perform primarily sedentary work involving sitting for extended periods with occasional standing or walking.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Perform repetitive hand, finger, and arm movements such as typing or writing throughout the work shift.
  • Maintain the ability to complete computer-based documentation and administrative tasks during the workday.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in social services, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience supporting diverse populations in healthcare, social services, or community-based environments strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Educate clients and families about Medicaid benefits, eligibility requirements, and coverage options to help them make informed decisions.
  • Assist eligible clients with completing and submitting initial Medicaid benefit applications.
  • Guide clients through the Medicaid renewal process by reviewing reauthorization reports and scheduling renewal appointments.
  • Monitor application status and follow up with the Family Support Division to ensure timely processing of benefits.
  • Coordinate with direct care staff to gather and verify documentation required for Medicaid applications and renewals.
  • Ensure all required forms and documentation are submitted accurately and within required timelines.
  • Regularly review Medicaid status for assigned clients and report lapsed or expiring coverage according to department procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients, internal staff, and the Family Support Division to address questions, resolve issues, and support continuity of coverage.
  • Stay informed on Medicaid regulations, policies, and guidelines to maintain compliance with program requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations and client services.
