About The Position

The Benefits and Wellness Manager is primarily responsible for the administration of the Firm’s benefit plans, Firm and government filings and compliance, wellness programs, and related administrative support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years benefit administration experience preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of various laws pertaining to benefits. Must keep up-to-date on all relevant regulations and laws.
  • The ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels in the organization.
  • Microsoft Office and HRIS/payroll software skills.
  • Excellent project management skills and technical acumen. Ability to lead software implementation projects as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and analytical abilities.
  • Must be a self-starter, being able to work independently and on a team.
  • The ability to prioritize and meet set deadlines.
  • The ability to multi-task, handle interruptions, and problem solve.

  • HR-related certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, analyzes, evaluates, and administers all corporate benefit programs.
  • Verifies monthly invoicing for all benefit plans.
  • Researches employee benefit-related issues and questions and responds promptly.
  • Organizes and conducts open enrollment programs for employees.
  • 401k/Profit Sharing.
  • Prepares and distributes updates to employees on any benefit changes.
  • Provides benefit overviews to new employees and ensures enrollments are processed.
  • Coordinates Workers’ Compensation, FMLA, STD/LTD, HIPAA and COBRA programs.
  • Responsible for all leave management in conjunction with third-party administrator.
  • Processes unemployment claims and reports.
  • Processes and reviews background checks on candidates and works with provider to ensure compliance.
  • Oversees all areas regarding employment eligibility including I-9’s, e-Verify, and work visas/sponsorships.
  • Assists in the orientation of new employees, ensuring all required documentation for employment is obtained in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Sends new hires required paperwork via onboarding software.
  • Manages the exit process for terminated employees, ensuring all company property and documentation is obtained and processed.
  • Manages any government audits and any peer review-related requests.
  • Prepares, manages, and audits employee agreements, ensuring all state and local laws are abided by.
  • Ensures compliance with subcontractor arrangements.
  • Creates and maintains Alternative Career Path arrangements.
  • Works with Human Resources Director to ensure employee manual is compliant and up-to-date.
  • Responsible for all Firm human resource-related recordkeeping and personnel files.
  • In conjunction with Director of Administration, works with Building Management of Cleveland’s office facility to ensure employees are informed of changes and provided with safe environment.
  • Oversees all safety initiatives and OSHA requirements.
  • Prepares surveys and management reports as requested.
  • Prepares government reports such as EEOC and ACA.
  • Provides information for employment verifications as needed.
  • Participates in and completes special human resource-related projects as necessary.
  • Develops and implements an annual holistic wellness plan, aligned with firm values and employee needs (encompassing physical, mental, engagement, connection, financial education, emotional intelligence, support, and empowerment).
  • Partners with leadership, insurance providers, and external vendors to expand offerings such as mental health resources, EAP enhancements, and wellness programs.
  • Establishes and works with a Wellness Committee across the firm to generate ideas, drive participation, and embed wellness into firm culture.
  • Integrates wellness objectives into the firm’s broader people strategy, linking initiatives to engagement, retention, and productivity.
  • Builds and maintains a Mental Health Resource Hub on the intranet consolidating EAP information, mindfulness tools, crisis lines, and educational content.
  • Launches wellness campaigns on a quarterly basis.
  • Explores partnerships with various vendors (apps, workshops, other programs).
  • Expands current offerings to include onsite and virtual fitness challenges, subsidized classes, nutritional sessions, etc.
  • Builds wellness discussions into Career Coaching sessions, emphasizing the importance of wellbeing, empowerment, and emotional intelligence.
