This role ensures that all benefits and compensation plans follow all applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is required
  • Five or more years of experience in human resources is required
  • Two to five years of experience managing both benefits and compensation required
  • Very strong organizational, detail-oriented, and time-management skills
  • In-depth understanding of benefits compliance issues, including state and federal laws and ERISA
  • Ability to identify, investigate, analyze, and resolve associate benefits enrollment and coverage issues
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively and sensitively communicate with all levels of management
  • Intermediate level knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Sensitivity to confidential matters is required
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency
  • Capability to read, write, and converse in English
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to others
  • Required to complete and successfully pass the Avenue5 Fair Housing and Preventing Discrimination and Harassment training and other courses if assigned
  • Required to maintain a regular schedule, which may include working outside business hours, weekends, and non-traditional holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in payroll administration preferred
  • One to two years of property management is preferred
  • CEBS certification is preferred
  • Certification in human resources (HRCI or SHRM) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, communicate, and administer associate benefits (health and welfare and retirement) programs designed to attract and retain qualified associates
  • Analyze existing company benefits and compensation plans, considering cost/loss trends, new industry developments, and market trends
  • Manage ongoing relationships with brokers, external suppliers, and consultants
  • Interact with others in the company as required regarding plan operations, plan funding, plan accounting, regulatory filing, etc.
  • Monitor benefit regulations and practices, and work with internal and external partners to facilitate the continued legal compliance of the benefit program
  • Oversee major benefit initiatives (annual enrollment, wellness program, etc.)
  • Manage the full cycle leave of absence process, which includes guiding the associate, the manager, and the generalist on the operational impact of the absence
  • Process medical child support orders
  • Responsible for reconciling invoices as they pertain to benefits and collaborating with the corporate accounting team to initiate payments to corresponding suppliers
  • Facilitate the preparation and submission of the FORM 5500 and other compliance-related matters
  • Create written and verbal communications to inform associates of benefits programs and policies
  • Respond to administrative and benefits policy questions
  • Identify, recommend, and implement ongoing process improvements
  • Research best practices in the benefits/human resources field
  • Research and stay current on regulatory information (HIPAA, COBRA, 5500s, etc. ) and the impact on the company’s programs and processes
  • Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned
