About The Position

SBC is a full-service group benefits broker. As a local agency, we represent all major carriers to provide comprehensive employee benefit programs to our clients. We have over 700 group clients in the Greater Cincinnati area, ranging in size from 2 to nearly 1,000 employees. We partner proactively with our clients to assist them in meeting their benefit, health and wellness goals. We are a proud partner agency of Patriot Growth Insurance Services. The Benefit Advocate (BA) partners with a Benefits Consultant (BC) to deliver proactive, high-quality service to a shared book of business. This role serves as the primary point of contact for client employees, supporting enrollment, claims, and benefit-related inquiries while assisting with renewals and client communications. The Benefit Advocate plays a key role in ensuring a positive client and employee experience through responsive service and strong attention to detail. This is a full-time, hybrid position reporting to our office located in Cincinnati, OH. Computer equipment will be provided by the company upon hire.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or equivalent business experience
  • 13 years of experience in employee benefits, customer service, HR, or benefits administration
  • Ohio or Kentucky Life & Health Insurance License or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Strong customer service mindset with a focus on responsiveness and empathy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in client-facing interactions
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage issues through resolution
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database/CRM systems
  • Ability to build relationships across multiple levels of an organization
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client employees, addressing benefit questions and resolving issues in a timely manner
  • Process enrollments, terminations, and benefit changes while maintaining accurate records in internal systems
  • Act as a liaison with insurance carriers to resolve claims issues and assist with appeals
  • Support the renewal process in partnership with the Benefits Consultant
  • Develop employee-facing materials such as benefit guides, enrollment packets, compliance documents, and presentations
  • Assist with and attend client meetings, open enrollments, and presentations as needed
  • Manage enrollment platforms and support onsite or virtual enrollment processes
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of client interactions and transactions
  • Communicate effectively with internal team members regarding client needs, renewals, and ongoing projects
  • Utilize standardized processes and tools to ensure consistency and efficiency
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Support additional projects and responsibilities as assigned
