Role Overview: The Bench technician role will play a key role in delivering precision-manufactured components that meet the rigorous demands of aerospace and defense applications. This position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure excellence

Requirements

  • Experience deburring and hand-finishing precision parts to customer specifications using appropriate procedures, machines, and tooling.
  • Ability to perform work, rework, and inspections while accurately maintaining documentation and required job data.
  • Proficiency in coordinating daily production activities, including scheduling, planning, execution, and participation in status updates with leadership.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and ability to support cross-functional shop floor operations as needed.
  • Commitment to workplace organization (5S), cleanliness standards, continuous improvement initiatives, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends when needed to meet critical deadlines
  • Willingness to travel to customers’ locations or other Hera sites as needed
  • Ability to use a computer and most common software programs to complete assignments
  • Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and online
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 40 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs and remain on feet for extended periods while performing repetitive tasks.
  • Adherence to strict safety protocols, including use of safety glasses, hearing protection, and hard-toe footwear.
  • Commitment to a professional, respectful, and collaborative work environment where accountability and teamwork are expected.
  • Comfortable working in an open, inclusive culture that encourages communication, support, and shared problem-solving.
  • Functional computer skills with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and personal responsibility for high-quality work.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of experience deburring metal components in an aerospace manufacturing job-shop environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and work instructions, with safe use of standard machine shop tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and basic shop math skills, with the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing project needs.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and willingness to learn and support cross-functional operations.

Responsibilities

  • Deburr and hand-finish parts in accordance with customer specifications using established procedures, machines, and tooling.
  • Verify parts meet blueprint requirements and ensure they remain free from damage throughout processing.
  • Actively participate in the planning and execution of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support and perform cross-functional operations as needed.
