Behavorial Health Therapist
About The Position
In this role, you will serve as the primary Behavioral Health Therapist at our Manistee Clinic, providing professional, in-depth mental health counseling to individuals of all ages in a traditional healthcare setting. This position will also support students ages 5-21, within a school-based healthcare setting at Manistee Area Public Schools, for a few days each week, offering school-based behavioral health services in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary school team. You will work closely with other clinic staff, area providers, and school personnel to ensure accessible, high-quality behavioral healthcare for the Manistee community.
Requirements
- Master's prepared Social Worker or Professional Counselor preferred (NMHSI is willing supervise an LLMSW or LLPC)
- Licensed as a Master's Social Worker in the State of Michigan or as a Fully Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan (consider Limited Licensure)
Nice To Haves
- Experience providing counseling services for children, adolescents and families preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct brief screenings to evaluate the needs of students for behavioral health intervention, case management, or ongoing mental health or addiction treatment. Provide referrals for more intensive services where appropriate.
- Provides clinical mental health services including diagnosis, treatment planning, and psychotherapy.
- Provide crisis management for clients as needed; make linkages for interventions as appropriate.
- Provide services to individuals, their families, and in group therapy as needed. May also provide educational presentations to groups about mental health.
- Acts as a health advocate for individuals, families, and the community.
- Demonstrates knowledge of community resources and makes referrals to community agencies.
