About The Position

The Calais School is a state-approved provider of special education for students with special needs. The school serves students in grades K – 12+ with multiple learning disabilities. We are currently looking for an experienced BCBA to add to our staff. This position is flexible and can be a full time or a part time position. The primary function of the Behaviorist is to plan, develop, and monitor a variety of behavioral support service delivery options to meet the needs of students. This includes the following duties and responsibilities:

Requirements

  • Certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, or significant current progress towards meeting certification requirements.
  • A Master's degree in special education, psychology, or related field, with specialized knowledge of behavioral health and treatment philosophies and professional practices.
  • New Jersey state license as a Licensed Applied Behavior Analyst (LBA)
  • A minimum of three years of recent experience working with individuals who have autism spectrum disorders and their families.
  • Knowledge of current methods and techniques of applied behavior analysis; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with clients, parents, and professionals; competence in analyzing assessment results, designing appropriate individual treatment plans and behavioral programs, and monitoring progress.
  • Must be able to work effectively as a team member, demonstrate flexibility and desire to learn new skills and improve professional qualifications, and travel independently in rural/remote locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with K-21 students is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Consults with teachers and instructional team members regarding pro-active, educational, programming, and behavioral supports.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Collaborates with team members, related services providers, families, and other agencies as appropriate.
  • Monitors student progress and adjust interventions as needed.
  • Tracks the effectiveness of intervention plans and modify them based on data and student response.
  • Assists the therapeutic team when planning for crisis management on de-escalation strategies for students who require this as part of their treatment.
  • Participates in Individualized Education Program’s (IEP’s) and collaborate with parents, teachers, and other specialists to develop behavioral goals and benchmarks within IEPs.
  • Provides social skills instruction by utilizing evidence-based practices to help students develop positive social skills.
  • Has the ability to problem-solve and assist in decision-making, including during emergencies or when a supervisor is not onsite.
  • Maintains current status regarding assigned core competencies and other required certification acquisition within established schedule and timelines.
  • Maintains a high level of organization for file maintenance and record keeping.
