Requirements

  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
  • One (1) year of experience working in mental health

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience working in mental health.
  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of Behavior Support Plans for patients in individual or group settings, including incentive programs, self-management skills, and teaching replacement behaviors (appropriate requesting of things, break, attention, sensory needs, etc.) May follow the patient in therapy sessions and other settings to assist patient in coaching of skills.
  • Provide general educational/instructional sessions individually or in group settings.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to assist in planning for care while the patient is in the hospital and when the patient returns to the community.
  • Collect and record data based on client behavior. May assist the behavior analyst with data collection and assessment forms.
  • Communicate with clients, caregivers, and treatment team regarding client progress and needs.
  • Assist the behavior analyst in preparing program materials, behavior reduction assessments, and skills acquisition protocols.
  • Provide education to staff by modeling appropriate behavioral interactions with patients. Reinforce behavior plans by providing constructive feedback to staff.
  • Complete training and maintain knowledge and understanding of behavior-analytic principles and/or Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.
