About The Position

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) acts as a representative of treatment staff and observes all patient activity, maintains a visible presence on the clients at the treatment center, community housing, and at outside activities. The BHT will also circulate throughout the treatment center and community housing facility, and alert to fire and safety hazards. The BHT is responsible for driving the company vehicle to ensure clients arrive safely and on time each day for scheduled actives.

Requirements

  • AHCA – Level 2 Screening/ Eligibility
  • At least 21 years old
  • Have four years driving experience or more
  • Hold a valid CDL license (when/where required)
  • Any driver with one (1) Major Violation within the prior three years is not acceptable
  • Any driver with more than three (3) Moving Violations within the prior three years is not acceptable
  • At Fault Accidents - Fleets with any driver with more than one (1) at-fault accident within the prior three years is not acceptable
  • EDUCATION: Graduation from High School or GED. Will consider individuals without a high-school diploma with at least 1 year of experience in the treatment industry.
  • EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 1-year experience in treatment industry preferred.
  • LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Current and valid Florida Driver License. CPR certification and First Aid within 90 days of employment.
  • SKILLS/ABILITIES: Demonstrates Proficiency in Communication, Observation & Written skills.
  • Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality laws.
  • Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Violence.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Integrity & Ethics
  • Knowledge of addictions.
  • Ability to interact with a multi-disciplinary team to assist in facets of the recovery program relating to physical health.
  • Knowledge of the 12-Step Recovery Program.
  • Knowledge and competency in problem solving, stress management, ethics and team building.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs that includes; Alcohol and addictive drugs and their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact on the individual.
  • Alcohol and addictive drugs and their impact on the family.
  • Ability to determine if a medical emergency exists and to take appropriate action, when necessary.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose.
  • Knowledge of First Aid and CPR.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction, including: Confidentiality, Patient Rights, Professional Code of Ethics, Discrimination
  • Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of an addiction treatment team.

  • OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Familiar with community resources

Responsibilities

  • Developing a daily structure for clients.
  • Developing a weekly structure for the clients.
  • Overseeing clients and peer leaders.
  • Transporting clients to and from appointments and meetings, when necessary.
  • Utilizing the company van for transportation of clients.
  • Instructing and confirming the company’s rules and regulations to new admissions.
  • Orientating new clients to the facility.
  • Following up on client insurance claims, when necessary.
  • Evaluating quality of program on an ongoing basis.
  • Facilitating communication with ancillary services.
  • Attending clinical and administrative meetings to integrate inter-departmental sharing of information.
  • Building positive relationships with staff and physicians.
  • Demonstrating adaptability and flexibility to changes in the work environment.
  • Following Infection Control Guidelines at all times.
  • Reporting personal symptoms of suspected illness or contagious diseases to the Infection Control Designee.
  • Completing and forwarding copy of Incident Reports and any other safety/risk issues immediately to the COO.
  • Providing a safe, therapeutic environment for staff and clients.
  • Providing and observing self-administration medication to clients
  • Conducting Waived Tests
  • Providing a daily report on the hourly rounds made that shift, to the Supervisor.
  • Facilitating client’s rules and responsibilities and reporting noncompliance to the Supervisor
  • Being sensitive to Cultural Issues of a patient based on their job position
  • Reporting Suicidality/Homicide of a patient based to their job position.
  • Ability of competency and understanding to Addition based on their job position.
  • Reporting and responding to issues of Trauma of a patient based on their job position.
  • Reporting and responding to issues of Dual – Diagnosis issues of a patient based on their job position.
