About The Position

The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting individuals with mental health and emotional challenges by providing direct care and assistance under the supervision of clinical staff. This position is essential in ensuring the safety, well-being, and progress of patients through effective crisis intervention, clinical assessments, and the implementation of individualized care plans. The technician will contribute to the development and maintenance of accurate clinical documentation and discharge plans, facilitating seamless communication among the care team. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience in behavioral health or mental health support roles, including crisis management.
  • Knowledge of clinical documentation standards and mental health care protocols.
  • Ability to perform clinical assessments and implement crisis intervention strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Behavioral Health Technician or equivalent credential.
  • Experience working with pediatric or adolescent populations with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED).
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare documentation software.
  • Training in trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques.
  • Additional coursework or certification in mental health, psychology, or social work.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical assessments and monitor patient behavior to identify needs and potential crises.
  • Implement crisis intervention techniques to de-escalate situations and ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including progress notes and discharge plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and update individualized care and discharge plans.
  • Provide direct patient care and support daily activities to promote emotional and behavioral stability.
  • Assist in the management of patients with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) and other mental health conditions.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay current with best practices and regulatory requirements.
