Our programming includes intensive care management supports for families and adults, Crisis Stabilization programming, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) for individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness, Child First for young children and caregivers, integrated co-occurring Intensive Outpatient treatment, individual and family therapy, medication management (including MAT), peer support, supported employment/housing, and holistic recovery services for mental health and substance use disorders. The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) serves as a frontline crisis support professional within the Crisis Walk-In Center, providing screening, intake, engagement, care coordination, and stabilization support for individuals experiencing behavioral health or substance use crises. This role supports individuals during psychiatric crises, early withdrawal, and stabilization while working closely with clinicians, SUD counselors, and medical staff. BHTs play a critical role in engagement, safety monitoring, care transitions, and system navigation , particularly during high-stress, high-acuity moments.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Relevant experience in crisis intervention, behavioral health, substance use services, or peer support.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and crisis de-escalation skills.
Ability to remain calm, organized, and responsive under pressure.
Understanding of confidentiality, HIPAA, and protected health information.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Cultural humility and commitment to equitable care delivery.
Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, willingness to travel to homes/communities.
Requires living in or near the location of the posting.

Responsibilities

Provide timely, compassionate engagement to individuals presenting in crisis, including walk-ins and referrals.
Complete initial screenings, intake documentation, and service coordination under clinical guidance.
Support crisis stabilization activities, including observation, de-escalation, and supportive interventions.
Assist with withdrawal management coordination , including monitoring, comfort measures, and communication with medical staff.
Collaborate with clinicians to support safety planning, service plans, and transition planning .
Coordinate referrals and warm handoffs to inpatient, withdrawal management, outpatient, residential, and community-based services.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation supporting clinical care, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Participate in Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI) responses and behavioral health emergencies.
Support daily living needs, parenting support, and structured routines as appropriate.
Maintain working knowledge of community resources and crisis system pathways.
Uphold confidentiality, HIPAA, and ethical standards.
Foster positive relationships with law enforcement, hospitals, EMS, and community partners.
