About The Position

Responsible for providing direct care, supervision, and support to patients in our acute care units. Assist with daily activities including meals, personal hygiene, and engagement in clinical activities. Help to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment while monitoring patient well-being alongside medical and clinical teams, which includes patient de-escalation when necessary. Observe and document patient behaviors, assisting with admissions and discharges, and completing regular safety checks. Participate in patient rounds as part of multi-disciplinary team and documenting regularly in patient charts. Help maintain overall safety of the milieu, responding to emergency codes, and escorting patients to treatment and other areas of the facility as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or completion of G.E.D. required
  • At least one year of experience working in behavioral health setting or programs required
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire; must maintain a clean driving record. Position may involve safely transporting clients to appointments, community activities, and partner agency locations.
  • Basic Life Support, CPR and First Aid certifications required at time or hire or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire required
  • Current Certification as a Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS) or Certified Addiction Technician (CAT) in Colorado preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in health/human services preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working in a community-based behavioral health setting, providing direct support or services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use challenges preferred
  • Bilingual/bi-cultural preferred

Responsibilities

  • Help create and maintain a structured and therapeutic environment for patients with mental health and substance use conditions.
  • Help clients complete intake paperwork and get oriented to rules/activities of the unit.
  • Observe and record patient behaviors, progress, and other pertinent information, reporting it to medical and clinical teams.
  • Resolve conflicts between clients and de-escalate clients as needed.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, such as meals, personal hygiene, and engagement in therapeutic activities.
  • Create and maintain a trauma-informed and therapeutic environment for every client.
