About The Position

Behavioral Health Technician - Regional Crisis Center - Montrose, CO Active BLS, a current TB result and proof of Flu vaccination WILL BE REQUIRED in order to attend New Employee Orientation . If you are the successful candidate, further information regarding these requirements will be available during the interview and onboarding process. These are requirements for the position and are not paid for by Axis Health System. Position Summary: We are seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to provide supportive services and monitor and direct compliance with rules, guidelines, and directives for clients within a 24-hour residential care unit. Participates as a member of the service delivery team to assist with the individual care plans for program clients in accordance with policies, rules, regulations, and directives that apply. May also be asked to provide similar services in other locations as needed. Our ideal candidate for our Behavioral Health Technician position will have a high school diploma or equivalent. A bachelor’s degree and experience in the 12 Step recovery, medical and mental health fields are preferred. Continued employment in position is contingent upon satisfactory completion of various required trainings and inoculations sequences including but not limited to the following: Hepatitis, Infectious Disease.

Requirements

  • Active BLS
  • Current TB result
  • Proof of Flu vaccination
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of AA/NA very helpful.
  • A high degree of emotional maturity and the ability to maintain a level of courtesy and professional decorum in adverse circumstances.
  • Basic counseling skills including the ability to listen without judging, empathizing with the client, and being able to respond appropriately.
  • The ability to function at peak performance levels during nighttime hours if required.
  • Ability to observe and describe behavior and/or symptomatic changes.
  • Ability to seek supervision when needed.
  • Need to possess good communication skills and ability to provide constructive feedback to other staff.
  • Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and Internet Access.
  • Ability to follow established universal precautions and report potential exposure to a communicable disease immediately.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including calculator, copy machine, fax and multi-line telephone.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes-hectic environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Must have current driver’s license and ability to be commercially insured and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with Axis Health System commercial insurance agency.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.
  • Annual Flu immunization

  • De-escalation training within 90 days of hire
  • BLS certification required prior to employment
