About The Position

The Children’s Behavioral Health Bureau (BHB), located withing the Child and Family Service Division (CFSD), at the Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist (Case Manager/Bilingual). The Bureau is responsible for providing comprehensive, trauma informed, culturally responsive mental health and substance use services to help youth, with the support of their parents, thrive in their environments. Services for youth are provided in their homes, school, community and the DHS office. This position will provide case management and high-fidelity wraparound, intensive care coordination, for youth with complex behavioral health challenges. The Case Manager is part of a multidisciplinary team which may include therapists, psychiatric providers, and professionals from the schools, courts, child welfare, etc. The Case Manager should have experience working with multi system involved youth, knowledge of Arlington County community resources, experience with mental health and substance use services and case management for youth. Requirements

  • Completion of the requirements for a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a clinical discipline such as Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Art Therapy, or other directly related clinical discipline
  • Two years experience providing behavioral health services to the child population
  • Meets the criteria of and register with the State as a Qualified Mental Health Professional- (QMHP) within 60 days of hire (ref: https://www.dhp.virginia.gov/counseling/docs/ QMHP_FAQs.pdf)
  • Language proficiency : English and Spanish
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license from the applicant's place of residence or the applicant must have the ability and willingness to use alternative methods of transportation to perform assigned duties and responsibilities at locations other than the primary worksite.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a clinical discipline such as Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Art Therapy, or other directly related clinical discipline
  • Experience providing case management services to youth with a serious emotional/mental illness/substance use in an outpatient or community-based setting
  • Experience with (and/or certification) in High Fidelity Wraparound/Intensive Care Coordination

Responsibilities

  • Making assessment of clients presenting symptoms to identify services needs
  • Providing treatment planning, risk assessment, and crisis stabilization
  • Meeting with clients in community-based locations (i.e. home, school, etc.)
  • Linking clients to resources in the community to support behavioral health stability
  • Transporting clients to community services and resources as needed
  • Leading psycho-educational groups
  • Facilitating and/or participating in team meetings and setting intervals as scheduled
  • Providing case management to clients who need supportive funding from the Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT)
  • Providing High Fidelity Wraparound/Intensive Care Coordination to an identified caseload of youth and families
  • Monitoring the quality of wraparound implementation, including monitoring the progress of the child and family team goals
  • Completing all required documentation (i.e. treatment plans, progress notes, monthly and quarterly reports, etc.) accurately and in a timely manner to ensure compliance with clinical, funding, and program licensing regulations and standards.
