About The Position

The Behavioral Health Project Specialist is responsible for project management and support of operational functions within the Behavioral Health Clinical Strategy department. This role ensures effective coordination, implementation, and monitoring of initiatives that advance the department’s strategic goals. The position collaborates with internal teams and external partners to streamline processes, track performance, and deliver high-quality outcomes aligned with organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or health-related discipline or equivalent education and work experience in lieu of a degree
  • Two (2) + years’ experience in project management, healthcare operations, or administration
  • Experience with NCQA requirements and Plan Do Study Act (PDSA) cycle of process improvement
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Experience managing multiple projects and timelines
  • Able to work independently in a flexible environment and able to manage multiple tasks in an efficient, timely manner
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Project Management software
  • Strong communication skills (written/verbal)
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Public Sector Behavioral Health
  • Experience working with state agencies such as Rhode Island EOHHS, BHDDH, or DCYF to promote collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the director in the day-to-day management and oversight of clinical programs to advance the plan’s behavioral health strategy
  • Manage implementation of Behavioral Health clinical programs, projects, and initiatives, ensuring thorough and timely delivery of project tasks
  • Identify potential operational or programmatic barriers early and develop proactive strategies to address them with minimal oversight.
  • Evaluate existing workflows to identify inefficiencies and propose improvements to enhance performance and outcomes
  • Responsible for monthly and quarterly meetings, including facilitating, setting agenda and monitoring responsibilities of stakeholders
  • Maintain documentation of project goals, tasks, and metrics and compiles relevant reports for stakeholders and leadership
  • Carry out project-related tasks, including coordinating, conducting, and tracking outreach calls to members and providers as needed
  • Serve as team representative at internal and external meetings
  • Review and prepare relevant reports for team, internal, and external customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
