The Patient Care Manager facilitates progression-of-care and monitors the patient's progress to ensure that the plan of care and services provided are patient focused, high quality, evidence based, appropriate to patient needs, efficient, cost effective, and authorized by insurance companies. D6 Inpatient Behavioral Health is a 17-bed unit dedicated to adult patients facing various mental health conditions, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression. This unit boasts a multidisciplinary team comprising psychiatric providers, nurses, clinicians, and behavioral health technicians. To excel, behavioral health clinicians must possess remarkable communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to set boundaries while fostering trust. Mastery of therapeutic communication is vital for empowering patients and enhancing their mental well-being. Psychiatric mental health nurses must not only know what to convey but also how to deliver their messages with the appropriate tone, volume, and body language. Moreover, care team members should exhibit flexibility, embrace diverse lifestyles, and have a solid grounding in both behavioral and medical sciences. They must be equipped to address the multifaceted needs of their patients while maintaining a calm and compassionate presence, even in unpredictable situations.
