About The Position

Atrium Health Charlotte is seeking an experienced full-time advanced practice provider (APP) specializing in psychiatry to deliver mental health services to patients in the Charlotte and surrounding community. This role is for board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNP-BC) and/or physician assistants (PA) proficient in psychiatric services, working under the direct supervision of psychiatrists within the Atrium Health Psychiatry Service Line. The provider will conduct telepsych evaluations and medication management for adult patients across the lifespan. Responsibilities include evaluating, stabilizing, and treating patients with acute and chronic mental health and substance use disorders, such as severe episodes related to depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and withdrawal from drugs and alcohol. The position is virtual, full-time, with a 7-on/7-off schedule, and requires working weekends and holidays, with no on-call duties. There are also teaching opportunities with APP students, residents, and/or APP Fellows.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program
  • Current license to practice as a NP or PA in North Carolina
  • Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required
  • BLS for healthcare providers from AHA required
  • Nurse practitioners are required to have a master’s degree or doctorate in nursing practice
  • Certification as a psychiatric NP from a nationally recognized certifying body required
  • Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking and interpersonal skills
  • Able to evaluate, assess, and monitor other co-morbid medical conditions secondary to mental illness in consultation with medical attending
  • NC/SC Licensure

Nice To Haves

  • Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred
  • Current or pending CAQ certification preferred
  • +1 years of experience preferred
