About The Position

New Haven is hiring On-Call Direct Support Professionals / Youth Mentors to support adolescent girls in a therapeutic residential setting in Spanish Fork, Utah. This on-call position offers flexible, as-needed hours, supplemental income, and real-world experience in mental health, youth development, and residential treatment. New Haven is a nationally recognized residential treatment center for adolescent girls ages 14–18, providing a safe, structured, and home-like environment where mental health care, trauma-informed support, and academics are integrated. Our team supports teens with emotional regulation, relational growth, and behavioral health challenges using a family-centered, strengths-based approach. This on-call Direct Support Professional role is a strong fit for candidates pursuing or exploring careers in psychology, social work, counseling, behavioral health, human services, or youth mentoring. It is also well-suited for students, recent graduates, or professionals seeking flexible schedules and meaningful work.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Ability to pass a Utah State background check
  • Willingness to commit to a minimum of 8 months
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit before the first day of work

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and behavioral health support to adolescent residents
  • Lead and participate in daily routines, group activities, and therapeutic programming
  • Support the development of healthy coping skills, communication, and emotional regulation
  • Assist with minor food preparation and model healthy lifestyle habits
  • Maintain a safe, structured, trauma-informed environment
  • Collaborate with therapists and clinical staff to support individualized treatment plans
  • Document daily progress notes and communicate key updates to leadership
  • Use safe verbal de-escalation and physical intervention skills when needed
