About The Position

New Haven is hiring On-Call Direct Support Professionals / Youth Mentors to support adolescent girls in a therapeutic residential setting in Spanish Fork, Utah. This on-call position offers flexibility, purpose, and hands-on experience in behavioral health, ideal for individuals seeking flexible, as-needed hours, supplemental income, or real-world experience in mental health, youth development, and residential treatment. Shifts are available based on operational needs and staff availability. New Haven is a nationally recognized residential treatment center for adolescent girls ages 14–18, providing a safe, structured, and home-like environment where mental health care, trauma-informed support, and academics are integrated. The team supports teens with emotional regulation, relational growth, and behavioral health challenges using a family-centered, strengths-based approach. This role is well-suited for candidates pursuing or exploring careers in psychology, social work, counseling, behavioral health, human services, or youth mentoring, including students, recent graduates, or professionals seeking flexible schedules and meaningful work.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Ability to pass a Utah State background check
  • Willingness to commit to a minimum of 8 months
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit before the first day of work

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and behavioral health support to adolescent residents
  • Lead and participate in daily routines, group activities, and therapeutic programming
  • Support the development of healthy coping skills, communication, and emotional regulation
  • Assist with minor food preparation and model healthy lifestyle habits
  • Maintain a safe, structured, trauma-informed environment
  • Collaborate with therapists and clinical staff to support individualized treatment plans
  • Document daily progress notes and communicate key updates to leadership
  • Use safe verbal de-escalation and physical intervention skills when needed
