About The Position
Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Counselor to provide essential mental health services. This full-time role involves conducting assessments, therapy sessions, discharge planning, and crisis intervention to support patients across the lifespan. Position Overview: The Behavioral Health Counselor will: Facilitate patient engagement in treatment and education Conduct individual, group, and family counseling using evidence-based practices Support discharge planning and care coordination Collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive services Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed Assist in assessing psychosocial risk factors and mobilizing community resources Serve as a key contact for protective and legal case management
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required
- Current Indiana licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCAC, or HSPP required
- Experience in mental health, healthcare, or community settings preferred
- Crisis intervention certification preferred
- BLS certification preferred or required within a specified time frame
- Proficiency in EMR and MS Office applications
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
