CMHA is looking to hire a Behavioral Health Counselor OR a Clinician I for our IMPACT program. This position will be located at 233 Main St. New Britain, CT 06051. 1st shift, Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm. Flexible work arrangements vary by program. Compensation Range: Behavioral Health Counselor: The salary range for this position starts at $21 per hour. Clinician I: The annual salary range for this position starts at $57,000. Compensation for each position is determined not only by years of relevant experience, education, and skills, but also by maintaining internal pay equity. Position Summary: The Behavioral Health Counselor serves as an active part of a multidisciplinary team that provides outpatient assessment and clinical treatment services to children, adolescents, families and adults who present with a wide range of significant behavioral health needs. Treatment is aimed at assisting individuals and families by helping them develop the skills necessary to improve their quality of life. The Clinician I will provide direct clinical services to individuals in the community; including but not limited to evaluation/assessment; home & community-based services; outreach; case and care management; individual and crisis intervention. Collaborates with team members in coordination with other agencies

Requirements

  • Valid DMV License.
  • Must be willing to work in community settings to conduct street outreach to priority population
  • Must have a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the community
  • Successful experience working with the co-occurring population in individual and group treatment.
  • Beginner to intermediate experience with Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook.
  • Certified in BMT, First Aid, and CPR.
  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health discipline.
  • Must be active in a master’s level program focusing on a degree in behavioral health discipline.
  • Master’s degree in behavioral health (psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, alcohol and drug counseling).
  • Clinician I must have an active temporary CT license as a LMSW, LMFT, LPCA, Ph.D., or LADC as appropriate for services; Clinician I must be license eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive intake assessment that results in diagnosis and recommendations for psychiatric and substance abuse treatment for children, adolescents, adults and/or families and assists with appropriate referrals and linkage to others services, if appropriate.
  • Develops achievable treatment plan goals with child, adult and or family; with measurable and behavioral objectives within designated timeframes.
  • Monitors treatment progress and provides updates within identified timeframes and as necessary
  • Performs individual, family and group treatment utilizing evidence based practices to facilitate positive strength-based change.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with external agencies such as schools, PCPs, DCF, probation, court and other social service agencies in a timely manner.
  • Responds to crisis situations and triages appropriately, communicating clearly with professionals –internal and external – to meet presenting client needs.
  • Secures reimbursement by obtaining authorizations, providing accurate documentation and the submitting progress notes in a timely manner.
  • Completes documentation within designated timeframes as established by CMHA and external regulatory agencies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Provide Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) to clients via satellite sites and CMHA’s 233 Main Street clinic.
  • Reduce OUD and the number of opioid overdose-related deaths among homeless/at-risk individuals through treatment and prevention education.
  • Reduce the likelihood of chronic disease and premature death among individuals with OUD who are homeless/at risk by connecting them to integrated primary care.
  • Provide integrated behavioral health and primary care services to at least 25 program participants annually via imbedded Community Health Center (CHC) at CMHA’s Open Access Center.
  • Develop achievable goals with client with measurable and behavioral objectives within designated timeframes.
  • Monitor treatment progress and provides updates within identified timeframes and as necessary.
  • Collaborates with other providers by providing all pertinent clinical information in a timely manner.
  • Provides referrals and linkage to community and internal resources as necessary to address client need.
  • Completes documentation within designated timeframes as established by CMHA and external regulatory agencies.
  • Must be willing to travel and integrate in community-based settings.
  • Must have flexible schedule, be willing to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
