About The Position

Hope Clinic is seeking a Behavioral Health Consultant to join our busy and growing team! The BHC is primarily responsible for conducting patient mental health and substance abuse screenings and behavioral health/clinical interventions. Position also provides back-up to the Patient Advocates as needed to assist current and potential patients with health insurance enrollment, access to onsite food, dental, and medical services, and other on and offsite human services support. This is position is considered full-time, anticipated to work approximately 32-35 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, with some Wednesday late afternoon hours required.

Requirements

  • Licensed or Limited License MSW or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience providing behavioral health services to clients
  • Experience providing brief mental health and substance abuse trainings and behavioral health interventions
  • Experience working with diverse client populations and occasionally challenging client situations
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate Hope Clinic’s core values
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the Behavioral Health team
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively engage clients
  • Strong client record management skills and organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Outlook email
  • Understanding of and respect for Hope Clinic mission, vision, and values to serve all in Jesus’ name

Responsibilities

  • Conduct screening assessments for specialty MH or SA care needs and make appropriate referrals for services
  • Provide brief BH interventions and appropriate external community referrals for Hope Clinic clients and patients
  • Provide BH services at both Ypsilanti and Wayne Clinic locations as needed
  • Assist the Behavioral Health Manager in training and overseeing professional volunteers and interns who conduct MH/SA screenings and brief interventions
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential client records
  • Assist in developing common service delivery and reporting tools that support integration and whole person care
  • Perform client needs assessments to determine the level of assistance Hope can provide, and make referrals to other agencies as appropriate
  • Use Windows-based computing systems and establish online and paper-based systems to enroll patients in needed services and maintain patient records
  • Work independently and as part of an outreach team in the Behavioral Health department
  • Develop professional, respectful, and trusting relationships with clients
  • Provide client contact and support as appropriate, engaging clients and answering questions, in person and/or by telephone.
  • Support behavioral health team special events or special Hope Clinic initiatives
  • Communicate with staff and promote services through a variety of media resources
