About The Position

The Behavioral Health Aide (BHA) provides support and care to individuals facing mental health, behavioral, or emotional challenges. Working under the supervision of licensed professionals, the BHA assists with implementing care plans, facilitating therapeutic activities, and supporting clients in achieving their treatment goals. They also educate clients and families on coping strategies, monitor progress, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care. This role requires empathy, cultural sensitivity, and strong interpersonal skills to foster a supportive environment for clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 60 college credit hours OR up to two years of relevant work experience caring for children with complex emotional needs (one year of experience can replace one year of college, up to two years)
  • ODMHSAS Case Manager I Certification (to be completed within 60 days of eligibility)
  • Behavioral Health Aide Certification (if you do not already have, you will obtain after hire)
  • Wellness Coach Certification (if you do not already have, you will obtain after hire)
  • Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record (required for travel and client transportation)
  • Experience with Behavioral Challenges: Skilled in supporting children and families dealing with disruptive behaviors.
  • Understanding of Child & Family Systems: Knowledgeable about how various systems interact and impact children’s well-being.
  • Collaboration with Schools: Experienced in working with school systems to support children and their families.
  • Practical Skill-Building: Develops techniques that help individuals apply skills in everyday life.
  • Support for Medical Needs: Familiar with working alongside individuals managing medical conditions.
  • Strong Under Pressure: Maintains efficiency, meets deadlines, and balances work demands with personal well-being.
  • Organized & Effective Planner: Manages schedules and fieldwork to best serve clients, including home visits and meetings.
  • Clear Communication: Engages effectively with clients, families, and professionals in person and over the phone.
  • Physical Mobility: Able to navigate non-accessible environments, including climbing stairs when necessary.
  • This job is classified as a "safety-sensitive" position as defined by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not exclude any applicant; however, all employees are subject to the Family & Children's Services Drug Free Workplace Policy.
