About The Position

About Lakeview Center Lakeview Center provides comprehensive behavioral health care to adults and children with mental illnesses, drug and alcohol dependencies and intellectual disabilities. Across Northwest Florida, our services range from residential treatment to outpatient counseling, psychiatry, trauma care, treatments for substance misuse and 24/7 support for those with serious mental illnesses. The Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) of Lakeview Center serves as an acute-care inpatient psychiatric facility for persons with mental health or co-occurring disorders from Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. The CSU is 24-hour hour continuous operations unit that serves voluntary clients as well as individuals admitted to the facility under the Baker Act or Marchman Act. The unit serves individuals 18 years of age and older. Services are designed and implemented to support the recovery, health or well-being of the persons or families served, to reduce symptoms, or needs, and to build resilience and restore, or improve functioning. Position Summary: The Behavior Health Technician position assists the counselors/therapeutic/nursing staff by providing clinical support to adults and children who are receiving substance abuse, mental health services or co-occurring disorders in residential programs, inpatient settings, day/evening programs, outpatient programs and/or community-based programs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) year of experience working in a behavioral health setting is preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain provided CPR certification.
  • Must be able to pass provided CPI training.
  • Must be able to provide individualized, integrated mental health, substance abuse and co-occurring services to meet the needs of individuals served and their families, as required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work other behavioral health programs as needed.
  • Must be able to pass organization screening requirements, including state or federal background screenings as appropriate.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license from the state in which you reside, a good driving record and be insurable under the corporate policy.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of experience working in a behavioral health setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing a positive helping relationship with people receiving services.
  • Assisting those receiving services to complete activities of daily living, including accessing needed resources, and building functional, pro-social relationships with others.
  • Ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of those receiving services.
  • Implementing specific interventions according to the person’s treatment or service plan.
  • Monitoring and documenting the person’s progress.
