Our world-class training will prepare you for the job! What is Behavior Support? The Behavior Support is responsible for performing a variety of para-professional tasks related to the care of individuals served by Damar. Essential job duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Damar’s Strategic Plan and requirements by licensure. This position is funded by the Department of Education (DOE). Duration of services for clients will vary and be determined by the case conference committee. What would I be doing? Some duties include client supervision and care, crisis management, promoting appropriate social behaviors, and supporting clients in achieving their maximum potential. Requirements

Be at least 21 to work in our Children's Residential program however, we have Direct Support Professional roles for those between 18-21 so we encourage you to apply for the Direct Support Technician role if you are not 21 or over
Be able to provide formal proof of a high school diploma or GED
Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)
Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
Successfully complete a pre-employment physical
Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

Responsibilities

Effectively respond to and manage crisis situations
Consistently implement behavior management plans to reduce maladaptive behaviors
Promote and assist with the development of daily living, self-help and social skills
Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment
Conduct and supervise recreational and life enrichment activities
Complete required documentation daily, in a professional manner
