About The Position

Looking for dependable, compassionate direct support professionals to work with teenage boys with developmental disabilities who have some behavioral challenges. Preferred applicants will have at least two years of related experience, or a degree/certification related to behavioral health. Hands of Heartland has been supporting people with developmental disabilities in Nebraska since 1997. We value our team members and offer highly competitive wages and benefits, including 7 paid holidays and tuition reimbursement for full-time team members. Starting pay is $17.00/hour. We pay more based on experience and education.

Requirements

  • Ability to be certified in enhanced behavioral intervention
  • Valid driver's license
  • Current automobile insurance
  • Ability to pass registry and background checks
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds as needed
  • Ability to use verbal and physical intervention to redirect and/or to complete an emergency safety intervention with a person who is physically aggressive or self-abusive

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of related experience or a degree/certification related to behavioral health preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting personal goals

  • Planning and preparing meals
  • Assisting with activities of daily living
  • Transporting to and from day program and community outings
  • Reinforcing therapies, including speech, behavioral support, and physical therapy
  • Ensuring all needs are addressed in a respectful manner with dignity and personal choice
  • Completing and maintaining required documentation on a web-based system
