Under the direction of the Site Coordinator, the Youth Development Professional (YDP) supports the delivery of BGCTM programs across all five core areas by engaging members in safe, structured, and engaging activities. This role promotes positive youth development by preparing materials, maintaining a safe and orderly environment, modeling BGCTM values, and building supportive relationships with members and staff while adhering to all safety, training, and program requirements. These are some of the additional things you will do as a Youth Development Professional: Learn and understand BGCTM program requirements and objectives across all 5 core areas: Art, Character & Leadership Development, Education/STEM, Health & Life Skills, and Sports/Fitness/Recreation. Deliver and support activities that stimulate member participation, under Site Coordinator supervision. Interact and engage continuously with members in a positive and supportive manner. QualificationsRequired Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, or currently enrolled in high school. Minimum of 6 months of experience working with youth or teens preferred. Skills & Abilities that make a successful Youth Development Professional: Reliable and punctual attendance. Strong written and verbal communication skills with diverse groups. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Able to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. As part of our commitment to child and member safety, there are some additional steps that all hires will be asked to complete. MUST be a minimum of 17 years or older. You will need to provide 3 references. These references should be professional if you have work experience. If you don’t have work experience, these references can be any non-family member over the age of 18 who can speak to your character and professionalism.
