About The Position

Boeing Defense Space and Security is seeking a talented Multi-Skill Engineering Skill Leader and Capability Leader. This position is part of the BDS Digital & Systems Engineering (D&SE) team, responsible for developing business unit strategies for people, processes, and tools to support our programs and customers. The selected candidate can sit in any of the following locations: Berkeley, MO; El Segundo, CA; Huntsville, AL; Mesa, AZ; Oklahoma City, OK; Ridley Park, PA; or Tukwila, WA. The successful candidate will develop and maintain relationships with customers, program leadership, peers, and an extended team of engineers to lead in the development and execution of D&SE functional strategies. As a skill leader, they will work with enterprise teams to help shape and influence standards and policies related to enterprise level skill management in 6C, 6D, and 6K. As a capability leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and integrating functional strategies in the highly-specialized skill-sets of Affordability Engineering and Survivability Engineering.

Requirements

  • This position requires a US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a US Secret security clearance post-start.
  • Candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”
  • Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical leadership or management role.
  • 5 + years of experience leading projects that require integration across business units and/or multiple functions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with leaders and colleagues in an engineering environment.

  • Experience in affordability engineering, survivability engineering, or other highly-specialized engineering discipline
  • Experience developing organizational strategies

Responsibilities

  • Integrate workforce activities as the functional skill leader for multiple skill areas 6C, 6D, and 6K via talent management, resource management, and skills management.
  • Manages training & development efforts alongside the Functional Chief Engineer and BDS Engineering learning strategy, including command media maintenance, Technical Talent Review, Technical Lead Engineer compliance, Boeing Designated Expertise, and skill-specific training content.
  • Develop and execute strategies to build strong BDS-wide capabilities in Affordability Engineering and Survivability Engineering, including long- and near-term functional strategy and future vision.
  • Champion technical excellence through the advocacy of Affordability Engineering and Survivability Engineering, and by coordinating/performing activities such as technical design reviews and design expertise inputs.
  • Develop and deploy effective and efficient analysis processes and tools to support engineers in the execution of development programs.
