About the Position As a Battery Technician, you’ll be responsible for assemble, install, inspect, and maintain batteries in various devices, from cars and other heavy machinery to power plants. Functions Removes and disassembles cells and inspects parts to detect defects. Replaces defective parts, reassembles battery, and fuses lead parts with gas torch. Fills cells with acid solution and determines specific gravity of solution. Adds acid or water to obtain specified concentration. Attaches charger leads to battery posts or connector and starts charger. Reads meters and adjusts charge parameters to control time and flow of current through battery. Ability to perform discharge tests, evaluates results, and makes necessary repairs. Washes, cleans, and neutralizes customers batteries at customer location or in the service center. Repairs battery charging equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of using, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing electrical and battery testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of battery safety best practices and industry standards, related to the testing, storage and disposal of lithium-ion and lithium primary cells and batteries.
  • Physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bend.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull required load (usually about 30lbs).
